Museum unter der Lupe
What does a museum have to offer?
The “Museum under the microscope” series inaugurated in autumn 2000 offers visitors the opportunity to look more closely at some of the objects in the museum. Normally, exhibits in a museum are displayed in glass cases and cannot be looked at closely, let alone touched. You can’t touch them in the “Museum under the microscope” series either, but they are placed on a table and can be examined close up and from all sides. Once a month museum curators look at objects “under the microscope” and show you what that a “museum” is a place not only for history but also for stories and encounters. The stories related by the objects reveal the different dimensions inherent in a museum exhibit, be it a decorative ritual object or a small and seemingly unobtrusive one.
The half-hour presentation also enables visitors to meet museum curators and obtain answers to questions that a normal visit to the museum frequently fails to provide.
These events are in German only.
