“Advokaten 1938. Das Schicksal der in den Jahren 1938 bis 1945 verfolgten österreichischen Rechtsanwältinnen und Rechtsanwälte”

Book presentation

The annexation of Austria to the German Reich in 1938 put an end to the career of many Austrian attorneys. On March 13, 1938, there were 2,541 attorneys listed by the Vienna Bar Association. On December 31 of the same year there were just 771.
This book describes the history of Austria attorneys under the Nazis, highlighting the personal fate of persecuted and disenfranchised members. It is also a memorial and critical appraisal of the Austrian legal profession in Austria from 1938 to 1945.

Presentation: **Alix Frank-Thomasser**, chairperson of the Verein zur Erforschung der anwaltlichen Berufsgeschichte der zwischen 1938 und 1945 diskreditierten Mitglieder der österreichischen Rechtsanwaltskammern
