Book presentation: Georg Thiel „Jud“
The relationship of the moderately successful photographer Titus String is currently breaking apart. So the assignment to photograph the World’s Fair in Brussels comes along just at the right time. When Titus collapses in the Austrian Pavilion there after a turbulent par force tour, the garrulous feature writer Rupert and the equally resolute and attractive hostess Erika place him on a train to Vienna, where he is to face his past as a war refuge and Nazi victim, which he has not come to terms with.
While Titus struggles in Vienna against demons long believed to have been conquered, he discovers a photo in a magazine from March 1938 of a young man who is forced by Nazi henchmen to write the word “Jud” (“Jew”) on the façade of a house. He recognizes himself in the victim. But who is the perpetrator? Titus goes on a search …
Georg Thiel, born in 1971, lives as a freelance author and exhibition curator in Vienna. „Jud“ is his second novel after „Im Labyrinth des Unglücks,“ which was published in 2010.
