Book Presentation: Klaus Christian Vögl „Angeschlossen und gleichgeschaltet. Kino in Österreich 1938-1945“
Using previously unpublished sources, this book comprehensively deals for the first time with the history, structure and organization of the cinema in Austria during the Third Reich. The extensive “Aryanizations” of cinema operations in Vienna and their effects up to the present day constitute a substantial emphasis of the work.
Klaus Christian Vögl, lawyer, historian and Managing Director of the Department of Leisure and Sports Facilities of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, came across a unique collection of documents from the Reichsfilmkammer, which he meticulously edited and supplemented with numerous interviews.
KR Gerti Schmidt, tourist guide and Chair of the Department of Leisure and Sports Activities section, will give an introductory speech on the interest in Jewish culture – then and now. What would a guided tour about “Culture in Vienna” look like today without this city’s Jewish culture?
