Film presentation: Die Familie Sirota und das 20. Jahrhundert
The film Die Familie Sirota und das 20. Jahrhundert tells the story of a Jewish family of musicians in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Leo Sirota studied in Vienna and performed at the Musikverein. In 1929 he moved Tokyo, where he lived until the end of World War II giving concerts and teaching. His music and teaching activities had a marked influence on cultural life in Japan. His two brothers died in Auschwitz and in a prison in Warsaw.
The film recalls the victims of the Shoah and is a plea for world peace.
