FINISSAGE Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait
Guided Tour & Reading
The Jewish Museum Vienna is showing the young deceased musician in a way that few people know her: deeply rooted in the Jewish history of her family, who came to England from White Russia in the 1890s. In collaboration with the Jewish Museum London, Alex Winehouse, the musician’s brother, and his wife Riva have provided an insight into the life of Amy Winehouse, illustrated by artefacts and personal souvenirs.
In keeping with the subtitle of the exhibition – a family portrait – recollections of her father Mitch provide further details of the singer’s life, particularly her musical development. The guided tour and reading show Amy Winehouse in all her facets – her day-to-day life, her dreams, role models, sibling rivalries, and contradictions – as a completely normal person with an exceptional talent.
