ORF Lange Nacht der Museen (Long Night of the Museums)
At Museum Judenplatz (opened as of 8 p.m.) Jewish Vienna in the Middle Ages is in the spotlight. Numerous objects, the excavations of a medieval Jewish synagogue and a virtual tour through Jewish Vienna send you on a time journey. Guided tours through the excavations of the medieval synagogue take place hourly from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. In the current temporary exhibition Shelter! Architecture of Survival, which can likewise be seen on site, the photographer Adam Reynolds documents how the attempt is made in Israel to give the omnipresent bunkers and shelters the appearance of normality by using them, among other things, as community centers, bars, dance studios, mosques or synagogues.
The program at Museum Dorotheergasse (opened as of 6 p.m.) includes pop-up stores, tours through the permanent exhibition Our City! Jewish Vienna Then to Now and the exhibition Buy From Jews! Story of a Viennese store culture. Beyond that, we offer a children’s program and a midnight special for the exhibition Trude & Elvis. Vienna–Memphis–Hollywood.
