Podium discussion: Jewish recruits in the army of the Second Republic
How do Jewish recruits feel serving in the Austrian army of the Second Republic? What conflicts do they encounter? Can they practice their religion? How do they get on with Muslim recruits? These and other questions will be considered in the podium discussion in the Loos Haus.
The panel will consist of Brigadier Kurt Wagner representing the army and Ernst Meir Stern, who managed through his initiative and information brochures to have the Ministry of Defense issue a regulation in 2006 governing the service of Jewish recruits. N.N. will complete the panel with recollections of his own basic military service.
Moderation: Marcus G. Patka, curator
