As an exclusive birthday surprise, the Jewish Museum Vienna will present the netsuke figure “Hare with Amber Eyes at Museum Dorotheergasse from November 18 to December 10, 2018.
This “Hare with Amber Eyes” a small ivory figure, also provided the title of the novel written by Edmund de Waal about the history of the Jewish Ringstrasse family Ephrussi. Last week he handed the netsuke collection over to the Jewish Museum Vienna as a permanent loan. The entire collection will be on view in fall 2019 in the exhibition “The Hare with Amber Eyes – A Journey through Time” at the Jewish Museum Vienna, where we tell the story of the Ephrussi and de Waal families.
