Shaft in upper part tetragonal, in lower part round and smooth, below sleeve transition to pointer hand. In upper part, engraved Hebrew inscription: "This is a gift by the congregation head R. Straus, may his light shine, from Holesovice (?) and his wife, Hinda, daughter of the esteemed R. Nehemia Hersh, of blessed memory, in the year 1829/30." The town's name, Holesovice, cannot be established beyond doubt because of the Hebrew transcription, but this is the most likely option. The town is situated 37 mi west of Prague.
The Viennese Liberation stamp allows for the assumption that the owner of the pointer had come from Bohemia to Vienna between 1809 and 1810 and in 1829/30, had the item engraved and donated it to the City Temple, where it received the inventory number 10 and in the new inventory of 1921, the number 32.
