Book presentation: Lis Malina „Dear Papa, how is you? - Das Leben Erich Wolfgang Korngolds in Briefen”
“Beloved child, … In any case the beginning of the end. Because now the Nazis will act freely and cause “disorders” that will provide an excuse to march in at a point when it fits H. and he either doesn’t think of risking the war or – precisely – wants to risk it …” (Julius to Erich, February 16, 1938)
Considerable, newly discovered correspondence of the composer provides a self-evident witness of an eventful life of the eminent family of artists. From the burning love of the married couple to their exile in America – the creative writer maintains wit and fantasy at all times.
Lis Malina is a singer, music therapist and vocal teacher. Receiving her calling later in life, she began her PhD study at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, focusing her research on the Liszt Lied and E. W. Korngold.
