Matinée: Prive Friedjung "We only wanted Paradise on Earth"
Prive Friedjung was born on March 15, 1902 (April 14, 1902) in Zhadova/Bukovina as the twelfth and last child of a religious Jewish family. Her father was a shochet and substitute cantor. During her long life she had to emigrate several times out of religious and political reasons until she died on December 14, 2005 at the age of nearly 104 in Vienna.
Actress Gabriele Schuchter and actor Miguel Herz-Kestranek will read from her (auto)biography „Wir wollten nur das Paradies auf Erden - Die Erinnerung einer jüdischen Kommunistin aus der Bukowina“, which was published by Böhlau Verlag in 1995. Afterwards the editor of the book Albert Lichtblau will speak with her son Wladimir Fried.
