Regarding the photographer Gerti Deutsch
Lecture by Amanda Hopkinson

From her earliest work as a studio and travel photographer in the 1930s; through her time working on the iconic weekly illustrated Picture Post during and after the War; to her latter years freelancing for the new picture magazine and colour supplements of the 1960s, Gerti Deutsch was never less that - as Matthew Butson, CEO of Getty Images describes her - “the pioneer woman journalist who, more than any other, set the tone of her times”.
Amanda Hopkinson is Professor of Literary Translation at City University, London, and has translated some twenty novels and poetry anthologiess from Spanish, Portuguese and French. She is also the author of a dozen books on European and Latin American photography.
