The eight-day Jewish festival of lights “Hanukkah” (Hebrew for “dedication”) is an annually celebrated Jewish festival to commemorate the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 164 BC. Families and friends traditionally gather on Hanukkah evenings to celebrate together. Food fried in oil, such as Krapfen (Bavarian doughnuts), is mainly eaten. This year Hanukkah begins on November 28th and lasts until December 6th, 2021.
