Book presentation: Friedrich Polleross „Jüdische Familien im Waldviertel und ihre Schicksale“
This book is the accompanying publication to the eponymous special exhibition of the “First Austrian Museum for the History of Daily Life” in Neupölla to mark the memorial year 2018. The accent is on the history of the Jewish families, although anti-Semitism, the Shoah and references to the perpetrators were not excluded in any of the articles. The editor’s introductory text provides an overview of the state of research over the past 30 years. Moreover, the spectrum of the authors ranges from the middle school teacher to the university professor, and from the artist to the town secretary; two descendents of affected families also directly have their say.
