Book presentation: Marta Marková: „Auf Knopfdruck – Vienna Postwar Flair“
Oskar Seidenglanz, a simple apprentice from Vienna's 9th district, became a Wehrmacht officer and lodged himself in the collection flats of deported Jewish families. After the war, he reinvented himself as a purportedly Jewish businessman in the villa of the industrialist Bleckmann family in the posh 19th district neighborhood of “Am Himmel.”
Marta Marková sheds light on the background of those Jewish families whose fates Oskar Seidenglanz took advantage of with the help of his network to contribute to the “Austrian economic miracle” after 1945 with his textile chain OSEI.
Marta Marková, journalist, author, born in Špiklice/Spiglitz (CZ), since 1980 in Vienna. Publications: „Auf ins Wunderland! Das Leben der Alice Rühle-Gerstel“ (2007), „Unglück auf fast allen Seiten“ (2011), „Familienalbum. Erzählungen aus Mähren und Böhmen“ (2011), and many more.
