Chanukah Candle Lighting
We warmly invite you to light the Chanukah candles with us at the Jewish Museum Vienna!
The eight-day Jewish festival of light “Chanukah” (Hebrew for “dedication”) is an annually celebrated Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in the year 164 BCE.
Families and friends traditionally gather on the Chanukah evenings to celebrate together. Fried dishes such as doughnuts are eaten. Chanukah begins this year on December 13 and lasts until December 20.
A special music program will be performed at the Jewish Museum Vienna on December 12 with the children’s choir of the Jehuda Halevi Music School. There will also be a “sweet” Chanukah calendar. Every day a package containing Chanukah symbols baked by Hofzuckerbäcker Demel will be opened. A prize draw among visitors will take place on December 20
