City walk – "Revisiting history”
On November 10, 2013, Vienna will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the November Pogrom, which in Vienna took place not at night but from 6 a.m. to around 4 p.m.
Our walk recalls the terrible beginning of the end of Jewish Vienna and finds the gaps left behind by the years of Nazi terror. Recollections of the past and their traces in the present can be seen on our route from Tempelgasse to Zirkusgasse, across Taborstrasse to Seitenstettengasse and Judenplatz with Rachel Whiteread’s Shoah memorial. At the Jewish Museum Vienna in Dorotheergasse you will then encounter Judaica objects as a visible recollection of the addresses that you will have seen on the city walk.
Participants in the walk have free admission to the Jewish Museum Vienna from 1 p.m.
Meeting place: morning, Tempelgasse 5, 1020 Vienna
