![/sites/default/files/old/2175.jpg:right]("" "")Miguel Herz-Kestranek tells the story of his father, who emigrated during the Nazi era, illustrated with his favorite jokes. With a rueful smile the author seeks out the traces of his past. The mixture of family history and his own Jewish roots, forgotten Jewish stories and less well known Jewish jokes and anecdotes provide insights into a time gone by and an extinct culture, revealing the close connection in Jewish humor between comedy and tragedy. During the presentation at the Jewish Museum, the highly admired wife of Pollak will show that she is an intellectual ally of Torberg’s Tante Jolesch. Miguel Herz-Kestranek, born 1948, is an author and publisher, actor and entertainer, current vice-president of the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Exilforschung, and member of the curatorium of the Documentary Archive of Austrian Resistance. An event as part of the exhibition “All MESHUGGE? Jewish Wit and Humour”. Free admission from 6.15 pm _Jewish Museum Vienna Dorotheergasse 11 1010 Vienna_
