Book presentation: Franz Josef Dorn – Erinnerungen an Marko M. Feingold
Franz Josef Dorn met Marko M. Feingold in September 2012 at the Jewish Museum Vienna. Seven years later, likewise in September, he stood in the small Jewish cemetery in Salzburg and said farewell to Feingold forever. In the years between the first encounter and Feingold’s death at the age of 106, Dorn travelled with numerous school classes to the synagogue in Salzburg, where Marko Feingold told the pupils about the horrors experienced during the Nazi era. Keeping these memories of the suffering and misery of millions of children, women and men alive so that will never be forgotten was Feingold’s primary concern and purpose in life. In his book, Franz Josef Dorn tells about encounters with a person whose thoughts and actions, despite his life story, were always shaped by conciliatory and profound humanity.
Franz Josef Dorn, born in 1955, studied civil engineering in Münster, Germany and vocational school education in Graz. Born in Westphalia, Germany, he has lived in Austria since 1983 and works as a teacher, construction manager and photographer in Upper Styria. He is the author of several books.
