ORF Lange Nacht der Museen (Long Night of the Museums)
At Museum Judenplatz (opened as of 8 p.m.) Jewish Vienna in the Middle Ages is in the spotlight. Numerous objects, the excavations of a medieval Jewish synagogue and a virtual tour through Jewish Vienna send you on a time journey. Guided tours through the excavations of the medieval synagogue take place hourly at 8:30 p.m. / 9:30 p.m. / 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.. The current temporary exhibition "Three with a pen. Lily Renée, Bil Spira and Paul Peter Porges" presents three artists which share the same fate. They all grew up as Jewish children in Vienna, had to leave their home after the “Anschluss,” the annexation of Austria to Nazi Germany, and became successful elsewhere. They used their pens as tools for survival but also as sometimes trenchant weapons.
The program at Museum Dorotheergasse (opened as of 6 p.m.) includes a kids program and guided tours of the exhibitions „Arik Brauer. All of my Arts“ and „Café As. The survival of Simon Wiesenthal“ as well as of the visible storage. Further Jasmin Meiri presents musically highlights from Israel and of her grandfather Arik Brauer.
