Jon Fosse’s book about the thin line between life and death and an encounter with light in deep darkness:
A man gets into his car and starts driving, without knowing where he wants to go. He turns right, then left, and eventually gets stuck at the end of a forest path. Dusk is falling and it begins to snow, but instead of turning back and seeking help, the man foolishly ventures into the dark forest. He goes deeper and deeper into the darkness until he inevitably gets lost. He is tired and freezing when, deep in the forest’s darkness, he encounters a luminous being.

Jon Fosse, winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Literature, will read a passage in Nynorsk, followed by a longer excerpt in German. Afterwards, there will be a conversation with curators Domagoj Akrap and Daniela Schmid about the parallels between Jewish mysticism and his work "A Shining".

German reading: Robert Reinagl, Burgtheater actor

The event will be held in English and German.
