The exhibition "G*d. Reflectins between Heaven and Earth", which can be seen at the Jewish Museum Vienna until October 5, deals with a concept of something or someone of which most people have very different and distinct ideas. If for some He/She/It is "the origin of all being" and the moral authority according to which they act, for others He/She/It is a "great illusion", an invention that man has made in order to have an orientation in the face of the incomprehensibility of human existence. The question of whether (a) God created man or (b) man created God has always divided opinion. One thing is certain, however: the phenomenon of God has moved mankind since its beginnings. This event is intended to stimulate a discussion based on Amos Gitaï's contribution to the omnibus film "Words with God".
Amos Gitaï's 13-minute contribution to “Words with Gods” consists of a long take in which verses from the eponymous Book of Amos are recited as part of the Hebrew Bible. While the protagonists recite visionary texts, soldiers fight in the background, cars burn and finally a heavy downpour falls on the steadfast prophets in modern clothing. Amos Gitai: “Culture only takes on meaning in the deeper sense of the word when it expresses criticism.”
